If your student has only just learned the letter sounds and a little blending, the early-reader books should:
- Stick to short-vowel three-letter words
- Use only periods at the end of sentences
- Contain only very few of the shortest sight words
- Have just one or two short sentences per page
By keeping the words and sentences simple, your student will struggle less and have a higher chance of success — and will be excited to keep reading!
